The current band originated from the North Middlesex Silver Band and the
Enfield Band. The North Middlesex Silver Band was formed around 1911 at
Enfield's famous Royal Small Arms Factory, and before the Second World
War the band enjoyed a great deal of success in marching competitions
and band contests, including fourth place at the National Championships.
The Enfield Band also enjoyed success before the war, playing for the crowds at White Hart Lane.
After the war, the North Middlesex Silver and Enfield bands merged, and
in 1977 became the Enfield Co-op Band. From 2000, as the Whitewebbs Motor
Museum Brass Band, we enjoyed the kind support of the Enfield and District
Veteran Vehicle Society.
In November 2006, the band name reverted to "The Enfield Brass Band", as
part of a successful move to its current home at Capel Manor College,
(www.capel.ac.uk),
Bullsmoor Lane, Enfield. The association with Capel Manor has provided
the band with an excellent rehearsal facility and safeguarded the financial
and playing future of the band with regular playing engagements in support of college events.

The Enfield Brass Band is pleased to have Mr. Kenny Durbin as its Musical Director.
Appointed in September 2007, Kenny has a great deal of experience and enjoyed
considerable success as MD with Ware Brass (2nd Section). Kenny says to
anyone interested in joining the band:
"I enjoy playing and conducting and do so for the love of music. As MD
I openly encourage advancement of players' musical abilities and take
time to help individuals, as well as the band as a whole. I encourage
a similar love of music from the players I conduct.
My philosophy is that we perform our music as a hobby and unless we enjoy
it we wouldn't do it. I try, therefore, to add as much enjoyment into
rehearsals and performances as possible."

The Enfield Brass Band is of a good and improving standard (roughly 3rd
section equivalent), with mixed age and ability players. The band prides
itself on welcoming new players and of developing the idea of "band family"
where loyalty and commitment are valued as much as musical ability.
The band has its origins and identity in the Enfield and North London area
and is committed to improving and maintaining links with the local community.
The band's aim is to create an environment where making music together
is fun and enjoyable, whilst striving for individual and collective musical improvement.

The Enfield Brass Band is a non-contesting band.
For any player interested in contesting, this opportunity does exist via
a joint arrangement with the Potters Bar Town Band. Players from both
bands have come together to form the Enfield and Potters Bar Contest Band,
now known as EPB (Enfield Potters Bar).
Whilst the contest band is a separate entity to the Enfield Brass Band
they sensibly share many of the resources. In 2004, The Enfield and Potters
Bar Contest Band were the Winners of the National 4th Section Championship in Harrogate.
